“The Aglaea earrings take their name and are inspired by the youngest of the Charites. In Greek mythology, the three deities were patrons of various pleasures in life. The Charites were often portrayed as three almost naked or draped female figures dancing and singing in a circle. One holds roses, the other holds a dice, and the third, a branch of myrtle which inspired the earrings. The star-like flower has five petals reproduced by the round brilliant-cut white diamonds and numerous stamens that are depicted by the round brilliant-cut yellow diamonds. As the dropping part of the earring, the wheat chains abstractly represent the branches and leaves of the flowering plant as well as the three Charites. The fruit, a round berry containing several seeds, is most commonly blue-black and is illustrated by the round brilliant-cut black diamonds. Besides, the number 3 has a strong symbolic as it means, among other things, harmony, a new beginning, and completeness.”
